PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico football's final game of the season is tomorrow as the team prepares for a contest with Texas A&M-Kingsville. Before the matchup, please read the 4th & 1 Preview:
First Down – Recap: ENMU fell to UT Permian Basin, 64-14, Saturday afternoon at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. The Greyhounds scored touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters in the contest. Eastern's first score came from rushing leader,
Ron Craten. The final touchdown came from a pass by
Chad Ragle to wideout
Dalton Flowers. UTPB dominated the game scoring at ease and forced several tackles for loss. The Falcons relied heavily on quick passes with large chunks of yards after the catch. ENMU was unable to stop the flurry of offensive momentum from the visitors and fell in their final game at home.
Second Down – Leading the LSC: Eastern New Mexico runs the ball efficiently and leads the conference with 333.5 yards per game. They are led by
Ron Craten who is the top rusher in the LSC with 109.3 yards per game and 13 rushing touchdowns. Craten has 976 total rushing yards and has scored 78 total points in 2024. He is only one of two players with 900+ rushing yards this year. Three of the top ten rushers in the Lone Star Conference play for ENMU. Joining Craten are

Third Down – Lookin' for Lee: Head coach
Kelley Lee is looking to earn with 30th career win as the leader of Eastern New Mexico football. Lee holds a 29-25 overall record over his five seasons. The Western New Mexico graduate came to ENMU as a graduate assistant before becoming an assistant coach. In 2017, he took over as the head coach and spent 2017-20 with ENMU before coming back in 2023. Lee is 3-1 overall versus Texas A&M-Kingsville. He is 1-0 in games played at Kingsville. The victory came in 2018 with Eastern pulling off a 31-14 result over the Javelinas.
Fourth Down – Savvy Stats: Eastern leads the conference allowing just 0.60 sacks per game. They also lead giving up 3.40 tackles for loss per contest. Another positive for ENMU is passing yards per completion as they are number two in the nation with 19.42 yards in that category. The Hounds have 43 pass completions for 835 yards. Defensively, the program is led by
Matthew Quartieri with 9.9 tackles per game. He is also second in the conference with 5.4 solo tackles per contest. Second year Greyhound
Micah Lewis is third in the league with 1.2 pass deflections per contest. Also,
Jarius Stewart is third in the LSC with 19.3 yards per kickoff return.
&1 – Kings of Kingsville: The Texas A&M-Kingsville is strong. They lead the LSC in red zone defense forcing opponents to score on just 55.6% of their trips. They also only allow foes to run for 88.6 yards per game. The Saturday night battle pits the conference's top rushing offense versus the league's top rushing defense. Another note to know is that TAMUK picks up 2.40 sacks per contest. Defensively, Xavier Henderson leads the LSC with 1.40 tackles for loss and Demarcus Hendricks is the leader in sacks with 0.75 per outing. Former Eastern New Mexico defensive coordinator Jamison Bisch is in the same role for TAMUK. He is in his second season in Kingsville.
