Nine ENMU football student-athletes recognized to all-LSC team

Lone Star Conference recognizes 2024 all-conference football postseason honors

RICHARDSON, Texas – Nine Eastern New Mexico football student-athletes were named to the all-Lone Star Conference team.

"I am very happy for all our honorees and pleased to see that several of our young men who had their season cut short due to injuries were still able to get much deserved all-conference recognition," said head coach Kelley Lee on the awardees.

Senior running back Ron Craten closed out a successful season for ENMU with first team recognition. The Oak Grove, La. native led the conference in all purpose yards (109.33), rushing touchdowns (13), rushing yards per game (108.4), scoring per game (8.7), and total points scored (78).

Earlier this season, he was named LSC offensive player of the week for his three-touchdown performance versus Western New Mexico. Craten finished the year with nine games played after having some injuries during the year.

ENMU also had representation from the second team. Full back Ja'Calvin Newsom was named to the team after a season that was cut short due to injury. The West Mesa HS (N.M.) graduate was second on the team with 476 rushing yards. His best game came on a night where he ran ten times for 135 yards and a touchdown. Newsom finished the year with three total rushing scores.

The Greyhounds had seven all-LSC honorable mention team members. Those student-athletes include David Ma'ake, Nathan Jim, Jarius Stewart, Colby Russ, Micah Lewis, Zerrian Meander, and Dillon Hein.

Ma'ake and Jim were crucial members of an offensive line who led the conference allowing just 3.55 tackles for loss per game. They are also a big reason why ENMU ran for the second most yards nationally at 322.4 per contest.

Stewart was the fifth leading rusher for Eastern in 2024. He totaled 341 yards while securing three touchdowns. His best game came in a win over Western New Mexico where he had 79 yards on just nine carries.

Lewis was fourth on the team in tackles (35) and led the program in pass breakups (11). Meander was second among defenders in tackles (74) and finished with two total forced fumbles. Lewis and Meander were part of a defense that ranked in the top 90 in the nation allowing just 205.8 passing yards per game.

Despite playing in just four games, Russ was recognized for his efforts defensively. He totaled nineteen tackles, including a tackle for loss versus Midwestern State. Russ last earned an all-conference honor in 2019.
