The Greyhounds travel to Texas and Oklahoma this weekend for a pair conference games

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Women's Basketball begin a two-week road stretch starting this weekend. First, Eastern will face Midwestern State on Thursday, Feb. 8, with tip-off scheduled for 4:30 p.m. (MST). Then, the Greyhounds will travel to Lawton, Okla. to play Cameron on Saturday, Feb. 10, beginning at 12 p.m. (MST).

LAST TIME OUT

ENMU starts this road trip following a 1-1 weekend at home. First, the Greyhounds knocked off Angelo State, 60-55, with the Greyhounds posting a 4th quarter comeback in the win over the Rambelles. Deja Adrian and Ishuana Hunter combined for 35 points and 16 rebounds in the victory. Then, Eastern dropped a home contest with UT Permian Basin falling 69-51. Jaz Salon set the pace for the Greyhounds with 18 points, as the program had a season best 11 made three-pointers.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

With just four weeks remaining in the regular season, the Greyhounds are 7-13 overall with a 3-11 standing in Lone Star Conference action. Eastern's offense is posting 60.2 points per game (ppg) while allowing 64.1 ppg. Eastern New Mexico shoot 38.3% from the floor, 27.8% from behind the arc, and 73.8% at the charity stripe. ENMU averages 33.0 rebounds per game (rpg), allows just 33.3 rebounds per game (5th in LSC), while dishing out 10.5 assists per game (apg). The Greyhounds defense picks up 9.9 steals per game (spg), landing in 5th in the LSC for steals, while posting 1.2 blocks per game (bpg).
 
Leading Eastern on both ends of the floor, Hunter averages 15.9 ppg and 7.3 rpg in just 10 games. Adrian is the other key member to the Greyhounds offense, posting 13.0 ppg with 5.3 rpg. Salon averages a team high 33.5 minutes per game, scoring 8.9 ppg and a team best 2.6 apg.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

The Mustangs come into the game on Thursday off the back of back-to-back losses, including losing six of their last seven games. Midwestern State dropped road contests to Lubbock Christian (73-53) and West Texas A&M (67-56) in their last weekend. Overall, MSU are 5-16 on the season with a 5-10 conference record.
 
Midwestern State are one of the top rebounding teams in the conference, pulling down 39.0 rpg (2nd in LSC). On offense, the team scored 65.7 ppg, with the defense giving up 76.4 ppg (last in LSC). From the floor, the Mustangs are producing a 35.8% field goal percentage, 24.7% from behind the three-point arc, and 72.0% at the foul line. Additionally, MSU post 10.4 apg, find 7.8 spg, and block 2.0 shots per game.
 
Zarria Carter is the top scorer for Midwestern State, finding most of their success in the post with 17.0 ppg (4th best in LSC). Carter also leads the team and conference in rebounding (10.6 rpg). Kertisa Amos adds 14.8 ppg to the offense, while Makayla Coy and Nikki Green provide 9.3 ppg. Coy contributes 7.6 rpg, while Catalina Cortez runs the offense with 2.9 apg.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES

Cameron is also in the middle of a losing skid, falling in their last three games. In their last weekend, the Aggies dropped a pair of close road games against West Texas A&M (69-65) and Lubbock Christian (56-50). Overall, CU have a 7-14 overall record and 5-10 conference record.

The Aggies struggle on offense, averaging just 56.9 ppg (last in LSC), the Cameron defense is 6th in the conference with just 62.9 points allowed per game. CU shoots 38.2% from the floor, 24.4% from deep, and 76.2% at the foul line (2nd in the LSC). Underneath the basket, Cameron pulls down 30.6 rpg, while the offense facilitates 10.3 apg. On defense, the team grabs 8.0 steals per game and posts 1.2 blocks per game.
 
Katie King provides a spark on both ends of the floor, leading the team in scoring 15.1 ppg and steals (2.9 spg, leads LSC). Shamica Smith is just behind for scoring (14.5 ppg), while leading the team with 8.9 rpg. Korie Allensworth averages 12.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg, while Kailyn Lay leads the team for assists (2.9 apg).
