PORTALES, N.M. – Lone Star Conference football media day is set for July 25 at McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas. Head coach Kelley Lee, quarterback Mario Sanchez, and defensive back Zerrian Meander will represent the Greyhounds at the annual event.

"I am ready for the 2024 season to start," said Sanchez when asked about the upcoming year. "It is an honor to represent ENMU at media day in McKinney."

Sanchez comes back to ENMU after earning all-LSC honorable mention recognition in 2023. He started all 11 games a year ago at quarterback and guided the Greyhounds to their first 3-0 start since 2007. He led the conference with 12 rushing touchdowns during his redshirt-sophomore campaign and helped ENMU stay at the top of the LSC in rushing offense, redzone conversion, passing efficiency, and interceptions thrown. Hailing from Denver City, Texas, Sanchez was the LSC offensive player of the week after a four-touchdown performance against West Texas A&M (11/4).

"Looking forward to 2024 and being back on the field with my teammates," remarked Meander on the future season. "I am blessed to represent the program at media day this year."

Meander missed 2023 due to injury, but still comes into his redshirt-senior season after earning all-LSC honorable mention in 2022. He started all 11 games for ENMU at defensive back where he led the team in fumbles recovered (2) and solo tackles (43). He finished second on the team in total tackles (65) and pass breakups (7). The Amarillo, Texas native was named the conference defensive player of the week after a win over West Texas A&M (11/5) in Canyon.

The festivities begin at 11 a.m. MT/12 p.m. CT with a livestream available on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network. During the event, the 2024 preseason poll will be released to the public.
