Update for ENMU Athletics facilities naming

New names are announced for Greyhound athletics arena and stadium

PORTALES, N.M. – The Steve Loy Family Foundation now holds the naming rights for Eastern New Mexico University's stadium and arena.

ENMU will rename the athletics stadium arena after the Steve Loy foundation. The facility for football, soccer, and track is now the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. The arena for volleyball and basketball is the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.

Steve and Linda Loy are 1974 graduates of Eastern New Mexico. Steve is a former student-athlete (football and golf) and an inductee into the ENMU Athletics Hall of Honors.

"My family has been blessed in many ways, starting with the framework ENMU provided," said Steve Loy. "We wanted to make our gift count to make a difference for others to follow and serve as a legacy for the Loy family's appreciation for the ENMU community."

The naming rights agreement includes updating all signage named "Greyhound Stadium" or "Greyhound Arena" to "Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium" and "Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena." The ENMU Board of Regents approved the request for the naming rights for Eastern New Mexico University's current Greyhound Stadium and the Greyhound Arena at their June 1, 2024, board meeting.

There will be three monuments placed at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium featuring Steve Loy, Jack Scott, and Don Carthel. At the center of these monuments will be a 50-foot lighted flagpole featuring the American flag visible from Highway 70.

A ceremony for the stadium will be held on Saturday, October 19, at the Wagon Wheel game against West Texas A&M.
