PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Athletics is hosting Military Appreciation Night as part of Saturday's home opener for Greyhound football.
"I am thankful for all groups who helped organize this special event," said director of athletics Kevin Fite. "The Portales Military Affairs Committee is one of those groups who have gone the extra mile and have committed to hosting a tailgate with food and drinks."
The annual event will begin Saturday afternoon with tailgating beginning at 2 p.m. and eventually leading up to the home opener for the football program at 6 p.m.
Several individuals have volunteered their time to help with some key aspects of the game day experience. The colors will be presented during the National Anthem and a performer from the base will sing the hymn. Several dignitaries from Cannon Air Force Base will also be in attendance as ENMU thanks all men and women who have served or currently serve in the United States military.
Tickets for military members are at a discounted rate of $5 for a general admission seat. Those who wish to use the discount will need to purchase tickets at the ticket counter on the home side of Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
