Justin McClure joins Eastern New Mexico Athletics as Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance

McClure brings 25+ years of experience to Greyhound Athletics, begins position January 13

PORTALES, N.M. – Justin McClure has been named Eastern New Mexico University Athletics' Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance.

McClure comes to Portales after a brief stint with Lake Forest College in Illinois.

"I am truly honored to be selected for this role and am excited to contribute to the success and well-being of our student-athletes," said McClure when asked about the opportunity. "I am committed to make a meaningful contribution to our athletic program and am enthusiastic about being part of the ENMU community."

The newest Greyhound hire spent a little more than a year as a strength and conditioning coach at the US Army Holistic Health and Fitness System in Washington state. There, he worked and trained with soldiers. He also helped to train new strength and conditioning coaches.

McClure holds 24 years of experience at the NCAA DI level. He worked in the athletic department at Brigham Young University in Utah where he worked with 21 different programs. He got his start at BYU in 1998 as in intern before being promoted to an assistant position in 1999.

He had two other promotions during his time in Provo, Utah – he became as associate strength and conditioning coach in 2008 and associate director of football performance in 2015.

While working with the Cougars, McClure helped train NFL players like Puka Nacua, Taysom Hill, Fred Warner, Zach Wilson, Max Tooley, and Kyle Van Noy. He also worked directly with several men's basketball players who eventually made it to the NBA like Jimmer Fredette, Kyle Collinsworth, and Brandon Davies. McClure also worked directly with MLB players Michael Rucker, Daniel Schneemann, and Justin Sterner among many others.

BYU finished first among all Mountain West Conference and West Coast Conference institutions in the Learfield Director's Cup (an award given to colleges and universities with the most success in collegiate athletics) in all, but one season (2008-09, 2nd) during his tenure. He also supported eight NCAA championship title programs.

He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, a Certified Sports Performance Coach (USA Weightlifting), a Certified USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

"I am very excited to have Justin and his wife Jill join us in Portales. Justin is a proven leader in the strength and conditioning area," said director of athletics Kevin Fite. "He will instill an expectation of commitment, discipline, and accountability that will impact all of our sports programs and our student-athletes. When I heard that former BYU student-athletes competing in professional sports routinely returned to Provo to train with Justin, I knew we needed him to help our student-athletes become stronger, faster, and healthier."

McClure was born and raised in Boulder, Colo. and attended Northern Colorado where he earned a bachelor's in kinesiology and a master's in physical education. He is married to wife, Jill, and they have two daughters. He will begin his duties at Eastern New Mexico on January 13.
