Greyhounds selected fifth in LSC preseason polls

Greyhounds earn two first-place votes after historic run in 2024-25

PORTALES, N.M. - Two-time Lone Star Conference champion Eastern New Mexico has been selected to finish fifth in the 2025-26 LSC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, receiving 657 points and two first-place votes from league coaches, sports information directors and media representatives.

The Greyhounds are coming off a historic 2024-25 campaign that saw them finish 21-10 overall and 15-7 in conference play, reaching the South Central Regional semifinals. ENMU made program history by securing its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory with a 56-52 upset win over fourth-seeded Colorado Mesa.

Senior transfer Nataya Lockett, who earned preseason player-to-watch, returns after earning All-LSC Third Team honors last season. Lockett was a key contributor for the Greyhounds, averaging 10.8 points and 2.0 assists per game while shooting an efficient 43.3% from the field.

Texas Woman's topped the preseason poll with 810 points and 20 first-place votes as the Pioneers seek their fourth consecutive LSC championship. Lubbock Christian (776 points), UT Tyler (761 points), and West Texas A&M (663 points) were selected ahead of Eastern, while Angelo State (656 points) rounded out the top six.

The Greyhounds will look to build on last season's breakthrough NCAA Tournament performance as they pursue a LSC championship under head coach Blake Huber.
