PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico rodeo is back in action this weekend as they compete at the Texas Tech rodeo from October 30 – November 1. Before the Greyhounds head to the Lone Star state, please take a look at the Three Barrel Preview:
1.) Loving Lovington: ENMU had the reserve all-around champion for the men and women.
Jacob Walters earned the honor after scoring in three different events – team roping (145), steer wrestling (115), and tie down roping (40).
Mackinzee Dermody earned the accolade after scoring in goat tying (75) and breakaway (60). Overall both teams took fourth place among the ten-team field. On top of Walters and Dermody, ENMU had student-athletes make it back in steer wrestling (
Orran Hart), breakaway (
Kassidy Lightfoot), and goat tying (
Shaeden Marr).
2.) Full Field: This weekend 19 Greyhounds will compete at Texas Tech.
Mackinzee Dermody,

Ali Terry will participate in multiple events for the women.

3.) Homecoming Hounds: While Homecoming at Eastern New Mexico was last weekend, there will be a homecoming of sorts at Texas Tech for head coach
John Sharp and student-athletes
Mackinzee Dermody and
Jacob Walters. Dermody earned a bachelor's in management from TTU. Walters advanced to multiple College National Finals while competing for the Red Raiders. Coach Sharp earned a bachelor's in education and master's in interdisciplinary studies from TTU.
