LUBBOCK, Texas – Eastern New Mexico rodeo had an excellent outing at the Texas Tech rodeo with a fourth place finish for both the men's and women's teams.

John Sharp. "Coming up on the midway point of the season, we have a lot of kids giving themselves opportunities to win. We are still looking at the areas where we can clean up and improve. We want to have a growth mindset."
Three men and three women scored for Eastern New Mexico.
Jacob Walters won the all-around title for the men this weekend as he scored 145 points in team roping and 110 points in steer wrestling. Walters partnered with Teagan Roukema this weekend. The duo earned third in the long round and split 1/2 in the short go. They earned second in the average to gain those 145 team points. Walters finished the long round in 4.9s to take third in steer wrestling. He followed that with a fourth place nod on a 6.1s run. He took third in the average to total 110 more points and to clinch the all-around crown.
Cutter Pareo scored 125 points for ENMU. All points came in tie down roping. The first year Greyhound finished third in tie down roping with a 8.9s run and followed that with a third place nod in the short go with a 9.1s time. He split 5/6 in the average to earn his overall point total.
Bowdy Neece had one of the best long rounds of his collegiate career. Neece took second in his opening run with an 8.7s time in tie down roping. He ended up adding 50 points to Eastern's 430 points to earn fourth place.
As for the women,
Mackinzee Dermody continues to be the top point scorer for Eastern New Mexico. She posted all of her 140 total points in the goat tying as she was competing at her alma mater. Dermody took fourth in the long round with an 8.4s time and followed that by winning the short go with another 8.4s split. She finished 1/2/3 in the average to split points with the top three competitors.
Shaeden Marr scored 25 points in breakaway. She had a fifth place nod in the first go with a 2.7s run. Marr split 6/7 to earn an additional five points in the short go after a 3.1s time.
Kassidy Lightfoot was the final Greyhound to earn points as she split 6/7/8/9/10 with a 2.8s time to finish with two points.
Eastern New Mexico rodeo will get one more shot to compete this fall. They are headed to Clarendon College from Nov. 13-15 to close out this half of the season.
