Greyhound rodeo sends two student-athletes to short-go at Ranger College

Eastern New Mexico women's program earns seventh place finish in Sweetwater

SWEETWATER, Texas – Eastern New Mexico women's rodeo took seventh at the Ranger College rodeo thanks to a solid first run in goat tying from Shacie Marr.

The senior cowgirl posted a 6.9s run to split 5/6/7/8 for 7.5 total points in the long round. The short go did not turn in Marr's favor. Her points inked ENMU as the seventh place team during the competition.

Men's rodeo saw one team member earn a trip to Saturday's marquee event. Tyson Mackenzie had a 6.3s run in the long round in steer wrestling to take seventh and secure an additional run Saturday night. He did not combine for points in the average but still had the opportunity to compete in the short go.

The competition was difficult to compete with as a sub-2.0s run in the breakaway earned cowgirls a trip to the short round. Shacie Marr was one of four competitors this week who came a tenth of a second away from competing in the short go. Her 2.1s run was just outside of the sub-2.0s mark.

Greyhound rodeo does not have to wait long as they compete in Snyder, Texas this weekend at a competition hosted by Western Texas College.
