Shacie Marr joins ENMU rodeo coaching staff

Marr will serve as assistant coach for the program after five years as a student-athlete

PORTALES, N.M. – Head rodeo coach John Sharp has hired former Greyhound student-athlete Shacie Marr as assistant coach for the program.

"Greyhound rodeo will benefit greatly from Shacie (Marr) in the role as assistant coach. She will give our student-athletes a great insight in how to be successful as a student and an athlete," said head coach John Sharp. "She loves Eastern and has done great things as a student-athlete. I am looking forward to see her shine as part of the coaching staff."

Marr will stay at Eastern New Mexico after completing a remarkable career for the rodeo team. In her time as a student-athlete, she was consistently one of the best cowgirls in the southwest region.

Marr just completed a five-year career at ENMU where she helped the Greyhounds win the College "Daze" rodeo in 2022 and posted several top individual finishes. Over her five seasons, she advanced to the CNFR (College National Finals Rodeo) twice. In 2021, she competed in barrel racing. In 2025, she participated in goat tying and breakaway roping. In breakaway, she finished 12th in the nation.

In her time with ENMU, Marr was one of the top scorers in the southwest region and a regular competitor in short rounds. During the 2024-25 season, she finished second in the region in women's all-around with 848.33 total points over ten rodeos.

"I am excited. I have a lot of passion and care about this program," said new assistant coach Shacie Marr. "This is a great time to advocate for the team and grow the program. I thank director of athletics Kevin Fite and coach John Sharp for this opportunity to give back to a team that means so much to me."

Marr began her role on August 11.
