PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Athletics continues to invest in the fan experience at sporting events. For the upcoming football and basketball seasons, fans will see a new lineup of items at the concession stands. Those include new food items and the addition of beer and wine.
"This announcement is something I have been looking forward to for a long time," said director of athletics
Kevin Fite. "We could not have gotten this done without the support of strong community input and continuous conversations with University leadership to improve our fan experience."
Sodexo, ENMU's dining service provider, will lead the efforts of sales. The group has implemented strategies to incorporate new items to the concessions menu at games and will continue to unveil those on a game-to-game basis. Some additional offerings include jumbo hot dogs, Philly cheese steaks, and various chicken sandwiches.
Another addition to the culinary experience at ENMU football games includes the addition of local food trucks setting up inside the stadium. Fans will be able to walk towards the north end of the stadium and find several food truck offerings inside the stadium. Joe's Hacienda, Dr. K Maron, and Yummi Munchies have already committed to being at football games this fall.
Beer and wine stands will open when gates open 90 minutes prior to kickoff at football games. Two locations will be available for fans – north concession stand and a portable bar near the stands.
Current beer selections include Michelob Ultra, Bud Light, Coors Banquet, and Coors Light. ENMU is also working to expand options with a University branded beer coming soon and various seltzers/wines. The Rooing Hound Lager made by Rio Bravo Brewery (Albuquerque) will be offered when available and the University is working alongside Enchantment Vineyards to provide various wine options during games.
Fans will be able to purchase two alcoholic beverages per person per transaction. Sales will continue up until midway through the fourth quarter.
Due to alcohol sales, fans will not be permitted to leave the stadium and reenter.
In addition, Coca-Cola, as part of their partnership with ENMU Athletics, has upgraded concessions signage in the stadium and the arena. These improvements are intended to make patrons' selections and purchases more convenient.
Season tickets are still available for Eastern New Mexico football. They will play six games at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. The first contest is slated for August 28 at 6 p.m. against New Mexico Highlands.
