Volleyball wrangles Texas A&M International, 3-1

ENMU volleyball earns its first win in Laredo in program history

LAREDO, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team extended its winning streak to three consecutive matches in a 3-1 conference road win over Texas A&M International on Friday evening.

"We had a slow start to the match, but I think the girls were able to knock off the rust and get rolling early," stated head coach Karli Bustos. "I am proud of the resiliency of this team and their ability to work through the struggles. I felt like we won the battle at the net and we were able to capitalize on errors to come out on top."

ENMU 3, TAMIU 1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14)
  • Sophia Valdez paced the Greyhounds with 13 kills on a .205 clip.
  • Imahni Brown led the ENMU defense with 25 digs, her second consecutive weekend with 20+ digs in at least one match. The Greyhound also led the team with three serving aces.
  • Addison Bartlett finished one kill away from a double-double with nine kills and 12 digs.
  • Violeta Flores dished out 21 assists while teammate Catalina Gutierrez was close behind with 18 on the evening.
  • ENMU held TAMIU to a -.119 hitting percentage in the fourth set and out-hit the Dustdevils, .149 to .052.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • The win marks the first win in Laredo, Texas for the program and the first win over TAMIU since 2021.
 
The Greyhounds will head to Texas A&M-Kingsville for a 1 p.m. (MT) / 2 p.m. (CST) match with the Javelinas on Saturday afternoon.
