PORTALES, N.M. - Eastern New Mexico women's basketball will close out the regular season when it hosts Angelo State at 1 p.m. MT Saturday at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena in Portales.

The Greyhounds (18-9, 14-5 LSC) enter the contest riding a six-game winning streak and battling for playoff positioning. The winner of Saturday's matchup will earn the fifth seed in the upcoming Lone Star Conference tournament, as both teams are currently tied for fifth place in the conference standings.

Angelo State (15-10, 14-5 LSC) holds a commanding 52-28 advantage in the all-time series against ENMU, including a 7-3 record in the last 10 meetings between the two programs.

Junior guard
Aaliyah Smith has been instrumental during the Greyhounds' winning streak, posting a season-high 23 points in Thursday's 72-67 victory over UT Permian Basin. Smith connected on 7-of-13 field goal attempts, including a season-high four 4-pointers on eight attempts. She also contributed six assists, four rebounds and a steal in the winning effort. On the season, Smith averages 9.8 points per game while leading the team with 71 assists and adding 37 steals.

Chloe Dallas has been a consistent force for Eastern, averaging a team-high 14.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. The forward has been efficient from the floor, shooting 56.2 percent for the season. Dallas complemented Smith's performance against UTPB with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting, scoring 10 of her points in the second half. She has also recorded 27 steals and 22 blocks this season.

Julieta Ceja provides additional scoring punch, averaging 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. The sharpshooter has connected on 43.1 percent of her 3-point attempts and has added 25 steals on the defensive end.

For the Rambelles, Majik Esquivel leads the way with 17.3 points per game while shooting 40.6 percent from the field. Esquivel has been active on defense with 45 steals and has distributed 47 assists. Taylor Grona adds 10.4 points per game and leads Angelo State with 71 assists and 48 steals while averaging 5.0 rebounds. Landry Morrow rounds out the Rambelles' top scorers at 10.1 points per game, adding 5.5 rebounds, 58 assists and 34 steals.

In Thursday's 69-62 loss to No. 7 West Texas A&M, Stevi Lockhart paced ASU with a career-high 20 points, knocking down five 3-pointers. Esquivel contributed 15 points, five rebounds and a team-high three steals.

The Greyhounds have been dominant on both ends of the floor during their winning streak, which includes victories over Cameron (76-47), No. 8 West Texas A&M (61-57 OT), UT Dallas (69-51), Texas A&M International (69-59), Texas A&M-Kingsville (57-56) and UT Permian Basin (72-67).

Eastern averages 70.6 points per game while holding opponents to 60.4 points. The Greyhounds shoot 41.9 percent from the field compared to 37.9 percent for opponents and hold a 38.4-35.1 advantage on the glass. ENMU averages 14.4 assists per game while forcing 20.6 turnovers and recording 11.0 steals per contest.

The Greyhounds lead the LSC and rank fifth in the nation in bench points per game at 33.6. Eastern's 11.0 steals per game rank fourth in the conference and 51st nationally.

Angelo State averages 63.8 points per game while allowing 59.2. The Rambelles shoot 38.1 percent from the field and limit opponents to 35.6 percent. ASU averages 38.4 rebounds per game and dishes out 13.0 assists while forcing 18.7 turnovers. The Rambelles record 7.9 steals and 3.8 blocks per contest.

From beyond the arc, Eastern connects on 31.5 percent of its attempts while holding opponents to 30.1 percent. Angelo State shoots 30.9 percent from 3-point range and limits opponents to 30.2 percent. At the free-throw line, the Greyhounds shoot 62.7 percent while the Rambelles convert 70.2 percent of their attempts.
