ENMU athletics announces performance partnership with Southwest Cheese to fuel student-athlete development

PORTALES, N.M. - Eastern New Mexico athletics has announced a new performance partnership with Southwest Cheese Company, providing ENMU student-athletes with high-quality whey protein to support strength, recovery, and overall athletic development.

As part of the agreement, Southwest Cheese will supply protein resources to ENMU athletics, helping enhance the daily training and recovery routines of Greyhounds student-athletes across multiple programs.

"This partnership is about investing in our student-athletes at the highest level," said director of athletics at ENMU Kevin Fite. "Southwest Cheese is providing a critical resource that directly supports performance, recovery, and long-term development. It's a meaningful step forward for our programs."

"This partnership reflects our continued commitment to community engagement and presents a meaningful opportunity for us to support ENMU's student-athletes," said Shane Drake, director of site operations at Southwest Cheese. "Contributing to efforts that align with the daily demands of training, recovery, and overall well-being is a natural fit with our business mission statement: Nourishing People and Possibilities."

The partnership will be integrated into ENMU's strength and conditioning program, including the creation of a dedicated fueling station where student-athletes can access protein as part of their post-workout recovery.

"This gives our athletes the ability to train harder and recover smarter," said Justin McClure, the ENMU strength & conditioning coach. "Proper nutrition is a key component of performance, and this partnership allows us to elevate that aspect of our program in a significant way."

Beyond performance benefits, the partnership also highlights a connection between New Mexico industry and New Mexico student-athletes.
