PORTALES, N.M. - The Lone Star Conference announced the 2026 women's cross country preseason polls and runners to watch list on Tuesday, which contained two Greyhound runners, Chama El Hadiri and Elsa Tagesson the Greyhounds were predicted to finish 13th in the preseason poll. 

Chama El Hadiri, a sophomore from Marrakech, Morocco was recently named the 2025-26 Greatest Greyhound in her freshman season. El Hadiri was named the Lone Star Conference Female Freshman of the Year and was an all-conference selection. She placed 13th at the LSC Championships where she finished with a time of 22:22.18. 

Elsa Tagesson, the freshman from Boraas, Sweden brings her skills to Eastern New Mexico with numerous accolades from her high school career including a Gold medal in the F17 3x800m relay, and a Silver medal in the F19 800m relay. 

The Greyhounds will make their 2026 debut on September 5th at the Art Morgan Classic in Las Cruses, NM, hosted by New Mexico State.
