PORTALES, N.M. —
Paxton Segelke and
Celie Vick registered strong performances at the Vernon College rodeo and paced the Eastern New Mexico University women's team to a second-place finish at the event. The men's team split eighth and ninth and was led by
Eli Lord in the steer wrestling.
Segelke took first in the goat tying after a first-place finish in the short go. Vick won the breakaway roping and took first in the short round. Both Segelke and Vick earned 120 points for Eastern with their performances.
Bailey Harwell finished eighth in the barrel race after a fourth-place finish in the short round. Lord was third in the steer wrestling to earn 80 points for the men's team.
This week, Eastern will head to Borger, Texas, for the Frank Phillips rodeo.
