PORTALES, N.M. — After earning a resounding
56-31 Homecoming victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville, the Eastern New Mexico University football team (3-2; LSC 1-2) will hit the road in non-conference action. For the first time since the 2007 season, the Greyhounds will head to Muskogee, Okla., to take on Bacone College (1-4).

Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week Kamal Cass. On the ensuing possession,
Elliot Peters stepped in front of a Myles Carr pass and returned the interception 74-yards to give ENMU a 14-0 lead over the Javelinas. Texas A&M-Kingsville scored 14 straight points in the third quarter to pull within four points, 35-31, but the Hounds scored the final 21 points of the game. Cass rushed for a career-best 164 yards and four touchdowns as Eastern outgained the Javelinas by a 396-77 yard margin on the ground.
Bacone posted a 37-35 win at Lyon College on a one-yard touchdown run from Trey Seward as time expired. The victory was the Warriors' first of the season.
Statistical NotesIn the NCAA Division II rankings, the Hounds are fourth in both rushing offense and passing efficiency. They also rank 16
th in turnover margin and time of possession, 20
th in total offense, and are tied for 26
th in scoring.
Eastern leads the Lone Star Conference in rushing offense, passing efficiency, and time of possession. They also rank second in total first downs. Cass is fourth in the league in rushing yards per game, while
Jeremy Doucette ranks seventh and
D'Maujeric Tucker tenth. Cass and Doucette also rank third and fourth in rushing touchdowns.
Adrian Horton is tied for the conference lead with four receiving touchdowns. Cass is also the league's second leading kick returner in average yards.
Jeremy Buurma is sixth in total offense, while Cass ranks 12
th. In addition, Cass is fourth in all-purpose yards, while Tucker is ninth. Tim Callian is third in the league in net punting.
Lawrence Hall and
Fe'ao Vunipola are eighth and tenth in tackles per game, while
Keylon Hollis Elliot Peters are third and fifth in sacks.
On the RoadOver the last two seasons, the Greyhounds have posted an 8-3 record in road games. Over that stretch, the only two losses came at NCAA Division I Incarnate Word, 2014 NCAA Tournament participant Angelo State, and Texas A&M-Commerce. ENMU has won eight of its last 10 road decisions. In 2013, the Hounds clinched the LSC title with a 42-35 decision at Texas A&M-Commerce.
In the SeriesEastern's only meeting with Bacone was the 2007 season opener on August 25.
The Hounds won the game 63-20, as quarterbacks Michael Benton and JT Thompson combined to rush for 353 yards and seven touchdowns. The Greyhounds found the end zone on their first four possessions and eight of their first nine possessions. ENMU set a team single-game record with 512 rushing yards, while they limited the Warriors to just four yards.
