LUBBOCK, TEXAS — Daniel Ward (So., Cleveland, Ohio / Clovis Community College) set a career high and tied the team's season record with four RBIs in the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team's 13-10 loss against Lubbock Christian University Tuesday.
Ward went 2-for-5 from the plate on the night with both of his hits driving in scores. Ward homered to centerfield in the top of the sixth inning to drive in three runs. Along with his night at the plate, Ward pitched two innings allowing one hit and two earned runs, striking out a game-high six batters.
The Greyhounds (9-19, 5-11 LSC) are now 1-3 against the Chaps (16-16, 3-7 conference) this year, having dropped 2-of-3 games against Lubbock Christian Feb. 20-21.
Chris Sanders (Sr., Murrieta, Calif. / Palomar College) had two RBIs on a sac fly and
Jacob Cluff (R-Jr., Boise, Idaho / Southern Oregon Community College) led the team with three hits. Along with his first start of the season, Cluff added to RBIs as well.
Nick Sarmiento (R-Jr., Saginaw, Mich. / Highland Community College) saw two innings as a reliever and recorded four strike outs while only giving up two hits.
ENMU will travel to Tarleton State University this weekend for a four game series with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. Originally scheduled as a three game series, the two teams are making up a game due to missing the scheduled series earlier in the season.
