Bailey Named to National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society

PORTALES, N.M. — The National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame announced the members of the 2015 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, to recognize collegiate football players for excellence in the playing field and classroom. Seth Bailey (Texico, N.M./Texico HS) a linebacker for the Eastern New Mexico University football team, was among the 825 players from 280 schools to receive the honor.
 
To be eligible for the Honor society, a player needs to maintain a 3.2 grade point average. The student athlete also must have completed his final season of eligibility. The full NFF press release is available here.
 
Bailey garnered All-America status for his play in the 2014 season in addition to multiple all-region honors. He also garnered First Team All-Lone Star Conference and was selected as the league'' Linebacker of the Year. Bailey also was named to the LSC All-Academic Team.
 
A mathematics secondary education major with a minor in physical education, Bailey also earned LSC All-Academic honors after the 2011 season. One of the top defensive players in the conference in 2014, he paced the Hounds in tackles (81) solo tackles (48) and interceptions (4). Bailey had a pair of defensive touchdowns, with a 32-yard interception return at McMurry and a 30-yard fumble return against West Texas A&M. He also blocked a field goal against Tarleton State. Bailey also returned to the hardwood for the men's basketball team and scored 75 points with 66 rebounds. He poured in a season-best 11 points in the regular-season finale at West Texas A&M.
