PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team dropped a five-set contest to Midwestern State, 3-2, (21-25, 25-20, 14-25, 25-20, 15-12) on Friday night at Greyhound Arena to open home Lone Star Conference action. The loss moves the Greyhounds to 5-7 on the young season and 0-2 in conference play.

Despite
Lauren Frye (15),
Brooklyn Biel (14) and
Courtney Lawson (13) recording double-digit kills, the Greyhounds were unable to overcome late match heroics from the Mustangs.
Jennifer Martinez and
Imari Siufanua each recorded nine kills in the setback.
Alexis Aguirre matched her second-highest assist total of the season, dishing out 33 dimes.
Talaitupu Faumui aided the defensive effort with a season-high 19 digs against the Mustangs.

The Greyhounds and Mustangs split the first four sets, but Midwestern capitalized on a .294 hitting percentage in the fifth set to capture the decisive frame. Eastern was unable to overcome four attack errors, a service error and a ball-handling error in the fifth to give the Mustangs the edge.
