RANGER, TEXAS — Jacob Lewis split second and third place in the saddle bronc riding to lead the Eastern New Mexico University men's rodeo team to a seventh-place finish at the Ranger College Rodeo, last weekend.
Laney Elkins paced the women's team with a second-place finish in the first round of the goat tying.
Western Texas College won the men's rodeo with 390 points, while Weatherford College was second with 380 points. ENMU finished with 245 points matching Odessa College.
Lewis split second in third in the first go, short round and average of the saddle-bronc riding, to claim 135 points for Eastern.
Luke Hisel and
Brandon Muniz claimed 80 points for ENMU with a third-place performance in the team roping.
Ringo Robinson notched a sixth-place performance in the first round of steer wrestling.
Texas Tech won the women's rodeo with 180 points, followed by Odessa College with 165 points. Tarleton State placed third with 150 points.
Eastern had three goat tiers reach the short round, led by Elkins.
Tawny Barry and Casey Kamm both split 10th in the first go.
The Eastern New Mexico University rodeo teams will return to action this Thursday to compete in the Western Texas College Rodeo.
