NEW ORLEANS - Eastern New Mexico University Track and Field has their men's squad back in the top-20 in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA) Poll. The Hounds sits right at No. 20, one spot ahead of their previous ranking entering the national meet.
In all, ENMU will have four individuals and a relay team represented at the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend. On the men's side it will be
Marcus Parker in 100m dash and 200m dash, and
Kenneth Lloyd in the high jump.
Parker's time of 10.17 in the 100 has him sitting third in the nation, while his 20.43 time in the 200 leads the field. Both times are school records and are the top times in the South Central Region. Lloyd is the only field event competitor for either the men or the women. The senior is currently tied for sixth in Division II after he cleared the high jump bar at 2.14m (7-0.25) at the LSC Outdoor Championships back on May 5.
The women will also have two individuals to go along with the 4x100m relay team competing.
Kandice Miles and
Danee Bustos will both compete in the 200m dash. Miles is tied for 11th in the 200 at 24.05, which was converted from her record setting time of 23.98 after altitude. Bustos is tied for 21st at 24.22. Those two along with
Lateria Slaughter and
Maijah Mathis make up the relay team that is seeded seventh with a time of 45.93, which they ran at the LSC Outdoor Championships back on May 5.
The NCAA-II Outdoor National Championships is set for this Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26, in Charlotte, N.C. at the Irwin Belk Complex and Johnson C. Smith University will serve as the host of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com each day.
