PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico track and field is ready to compete at the 2026 Jo Meaker Classic and Multi hosted by West Texas A&M. The two-day meet runs from April 9-10. Before the Greyhounds begin competing in Canyon, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:
1x4 – Recap from San Marcos: Last weekend, Eastern New Mexico competed at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State. The three-day meet featured top programs from all three NCAA divisions and several NAIA and junior college institutions, as well. The men's program saw a handful of Greyhounds earn top 10 finishes in San Marcos.
Manny Chavez took fifth with an NCAA DII provision throw of 62.05m (203-7) in javelin.
Cooper Burgess had an impressive personal best in the long jump as he placed sixth with a 7.28m (23-10.75) leap in section B of the event.
Eloy Serrano Borrego kept strong pace in the 800m to take ninth with a 1:51.50 time.
Nicolo Salaris was seventh in the 100m section B with a 10.58s sprint. Six women had top 10 nods in the meet.
Kennedy Ulmer, who qualified for nationals in 2025 for ENMU, had a tenth place finish in discus section A after a 43.80m (143-8) throw.
Paige Fowler took eighth in section B of discus with a 41.29m (135-5) throw and her teammate
Madison Gigler went 40.15m (131-9) in the same section to finish ninth.
Minerva Cerda Hernandez was the highest placing Hound all weekend with a 3.60m (11-9.75) clearance in pole vault to take third.
Devyn Ericksen added a NCAA DII provisional with a 1:01.33 time in the 400m hurdles and was ninth in the field.
Korah Ives took tenth in the 100m hurdles section B with a 15.19s time.
2x4 – Conference Clash: Eastern New Mexico, West Texas A&M, Lubbock Christian, and UT Tyler will represent the Lone Star Conference in the meet. UT Tyler boasts 12 NCAA DII provisionals in 2026 with their 4x400 men's team holding the second fastest time nationally. The Patriots also have Juliane Frueh who has the second most points among heptathlon competitors this year. UTT short sprinter Aerin Thompson sits in third in the country in the 200m. LCU has eight NCAA DII provisional marks, including their  4x400 squad who ranks third among all DII schools. WT has 27 total NCAA DII provisional marks. Several Buffs lead the nation in their respective event. They include – Emiliia Tangara (400mH), 4x400 women, Esther Conde-Turpin (high jump, heptathlon), Fran Bonifacic (decathlon), James Dadzie (100m), Abigail Abugire (800m), and Kalkidan Vincendeau (5000m). Eastern New Mexico has five total NCAA DII provisional marks at this point in the season.
3x4 – Thursday Opener: The first day of the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi will begin with javelin at 9 a.m. CT. The other field events will include triple jump, hammer, and pole vault. Javelin and hammer are the only field events the men will compete in, while the women will take place in both aforementioned events alongside three entries in the triple jump. The 200m (W/M), short hurdles (M), and 800m (M) will feature Greyhound entries on the first day of the meet. The first running event will be the 200m set to start at 5 p.m. CT.
4x4 – Friday Action: Student-athletes will complete the multis on the final day of the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi.
Korah Ives will represent ENMU in the event. Her final three will include long jump, javelin, and the 800m. The field events for the day will include discus, high jump, long jump, and shot put. Eastern will have entries in discus (M/W), shot put (M), high jump (W), and long jump (W). Discus is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT. The first event on the track will be the 10000m beginning at 9 a.m. CT. Other running events include 5000m, 4x100, 1500m, 400m, 100m, 400m hurdles, and 4x400. The women's team will not have an entry in the 1500m and 400m hurdles. The men will not have an entry in the 1500m and 10000m.
