EMPORIA, Kan. - Eastern New Mexico track & field concluded the 2026 outdoor season at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia.

"Today was a special day watching Kennedy and Andre compete on the national stage in the discus," stated assistant throws coach Sinclair Pitts. "Kennedy finished 11th in the country against the best athletes in Division II while Andre battled his way to 20th-place. I am especially proud of them for the hard word, sacrifice, and commitment it took to get here. The results matter, but the growth, toughness, and heart they showed all season matters even more."

Kennedy Ulmer finished with Second-Team All-American honors and 11th place in the discus throw with a mark of 47.32 meters (155-3). Ulmer threw a 42.75-meter toss on her first attempt and 47.32 meters on her second attempt scratching her final attempt.

Andre Smikle finished 20th in the discus with a mark of 49.74 meters (163-2) before scratching his final two throws.

"National meets aren't handed out - they're earned. Proud of these two for representing ENMU the right way on the nationals biggest stage," Pitts continued.
