PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico track and field is set for the Bobcat Invitational running from April 2-4 by Texas State. The annual meet will feature top colleges and universities from around the country. Before the competition, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:
1x4 – Provos Secured: Through two outdoor meets, four Greyhounds have NCAA DII provisional standards.
Andre Smikle ranks 16th in the nation in discus with a 51.20m (168-0) throw in Lubbock last week. He was joined by
Kennedy Ulmer at TTU who threw a provisional in discus at 47.17m (154-9). In the first meet of 2026,
Manny Chavez put up a provisional in javelin after a 61.96m (203-2) throw.
Vivica Addison has a season-best 43.30m (142-1) in the javelin and sits 24th in the nation. These Greyhounds marks help the program advance to nationals to be held in Emporia, Kan. in May.
2x4 – Sprinting Ahead: Several Greyhounds earned a bid to compete at the Bobcat Invitational.
Nicolo Salaris and
Journie Alexander will run the 100m and 200m for ENMU.
Lesedi Anyika and
Minerva Cerda Hernandez qualified for the competition in the 200m. Both
Devyn Ericksen (Sec A) and
Korah Ives (Sec B) made the 100m hurdles field. Ericksen will compete Saturday, while Ives will take the track on Thursday. The 400m will feature
Stefan Camejo,
Meghan Rodriguez, and Anyika. Eastern will also feature
Byron Pruitt and Ericksen in the 400m hurdles. Both
Thomas Aerdts and
Eloy Serrano Borrego will be in the 800m and 1500m fields. Camejo will run the 800m. Thursday track events include men's 100m section B, women's 100m hurdles section B, women's 200m section B, and men's 800m. Friday events will be men's 200m, men's 400m hurdles, women's 400m hurdles, and men's 1500m. Saturday will include women's 100m, women's 100m hurdles, men's 400m, and women's 400m.
3x4 – The Field: The Bobcat Invitational will feature 34 NCAA DI programs, including Ohio State, Clemson, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, and BYU among many others. The field also includes 11 NCAA DII programs with a majority from the Lone Star Conference. Some LSC foes include Lubbock Christian, St. Edward's, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Midwestern State, and UT Tyler. This meet will be one of the best of the season to prepare ENMU for conference championships and gives Eastern a great showcase among the best field of competitors.
4x4 – Throwing It Around: ENMU will be represented in the discus by
