PORTALES, N.M. - Eastern New Mexico will play against #21 Angelo State in the 2019 home finale inside Greyhound Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 6 p.m.
Saturday's contest will be presented by Wienerschnitzel and will serve as the final home game for the Greyhound football class of 2019 seniors. The senior class will be honored in a pregame ceremony prior to the Hound's third contest with a nationally-ranked opponent of the season.
THE FINAL HOME BATTLE
Eastern New Mexico will take to the field inside Greyhound Stadium for the final time in 2019 looking to snap a two-game losing streak. The Greyhounds suffered a 48-38 defeat at the hands of UT Permian Basin last weekend on the road and will need to find a way to win one of the final two games of the season if they hope to become bowl eligible.
The Greyhounds outgained their opponent in a losing effort for the second consecutive week and couldn't keep pace with a Falcon offense that exploded for 41 second-half points. Senior
Paul Terry rushed for his ninth straight game of over 100 yards with 158 yards on 24 carries and a score.
Eastern New Mexico totaled a season-high 190 yards passing and quarterback
Wyatt Strand matched his career high with three touchdown passes, his highest total since the 2016 season. Turnovers once again plagued the Hounds as they have now totaled 11 turnovers as a team over the course of the past two weeks.
The Hounds will turn their attention to the final two games of the 2019 campaign as they welcome #21 Angelo State to Greyhound Stadium on a Saturday afternoon in which Greyhound football will honor it's 2019 senior class.

A CLASS OF PURE QUALITY
The class of 2019 has totaled 25 wins over the course of their four years at Eastern New Mexico and have amassed a 13-8 record inside Greyhound Stadium. The 2019 seniors are currently 19-13 against Lone Star Conference competition and have a chance to post winning records in three out of their four years as Greyhounds.
Both Strand and Terry have etched their names into the career record books for the Greyhounds as both rank inside the top five all-time for the Hounds in rushing yards, rushing attempts and rushing touchdowns. Running back
Johnny Smith ranks fourth all-time in ENMU history with 3,255 all-purpose yards and ninth all-time with 695 kick-off return yards.
Cornerback
Charles Countee ranks first all-time with 43 passes defended throughout his career and is tied for fifth all-time with seven total interceptions.
Senior kicker
Tyler Vargas ranks in a tie for fifth all-time with 65 extra points made and has the fifth most field goals made with 19. His 79.2 percent career field goal percentage during his two seasons as a Greyhound is the best in the history of the program.
TERRY'S HISTORICAL YEAR
Senior
Paul Terry continues to rise in the career record books and has turned his 2019 campaign into a historic one after successfully rushing for 100 yards or more in every game so far this season. Terry has totaled 1,448 yards for the year, matching former Greyhound standout
Kamal Cass' 2017 effort for the four best single-season rushing performance in school history.
Terry is just 163 yards away from matching E'lon Speight with the program's best all-time single season rushing mark and has averaged 160.9 yards per game this year, the best game average in school history.
The Amarillo, Texas native still ranks second in the nation with 1,448 yards and leads the nation with 252 carries on the year.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Angelo State remained no. 21 in the national polls for the second straight week and enters week 10 with their lone loss on the season coming at Tarleton State. The Rams are ranked fifth in the Super Region Four rankings behind the efforts of a talented defense that enters the week ranked ninth nationally in scoring defense (14.0 ppg) and has allowed just 17 total touchdowns in nine games this season.
The Rams rank just behind Eastern New Mexico in the LSC in total offense per game with an average of 423.9 yards per game and second in the LSC in scoring offense with an average of 32.3 points per contest. The Rams have been particularly impressive the last two weeks, defeating UT Permian Basin by a 65-7 final and then Adams State by a 41-21 final on the road in Alamosa, Colo.
Junior Devin Washington will lead an opportunistic Ram defense that ranks at the top of the LSC in both sacks (25) and interceptions (17). Washington has recorded seven of those interceptions this season while junior Hunter Kyle leads the squad with an average of 8.2 tackles per game.
Senior Payne Sullins has been impressive in guiding the Ram offense all season, averaging 238.8 yards per game and has tossed 19 passing touchdowns on the year. Receiver Keke Chism has been Sullins' favorite target all season, hauling in 54 catches for 794 yards and six scores.
HISTORY WITH THE RAMS
Head coach
Kelley Lee is 1-1 all-time against Angelo State, having won inside Greyhound Stadium in 2017 and lost on the road in San Angelo, Texas last season. The all-time series sits in Angelo State's favor at 25-17-1, but Eastern New Mexico has gotten the upper hand since both teams have competed as members of the Lone Star Conference, totaling a record of 16-15-1 against the Rams.
THE MONEY PLAYS
Junior
Justin Manyweather hauled in touchdown receptions of eight yards and 73 yards last week against UT Permian Basin to finish the game with 81 yards and a trip to the end zone in his lone two catches of the game. Manyweather has now scored six times on the season for the Hounds, three on the ground, two in the air and one on a punt return against Midwestern State.
Manyweather has developed into an explosive weapon for the Hounds, scoring on four different plays of 60 yards or more on the season.
NOT GETTING RUSSTY
Sophomore
Colby Russ has exploded onto the scene for the Greyhounds after the injury bug took out multiple Greyhound defensive backs throughout the last few weeks. Russ led the team with 11 tackles week against UT Permian Basin, one of which was for a loss.
The sophomore has now recorded nine or more tackles in each of the last three weeks and has been vital in the Hounds defensive backfield.
OUT OF THE ORDINARY
Last week's loss at UT Permian Basin proved to be unique for Eastern New Mexico in many ways as it was the first time under the leadership of coach Lee that the Hounds have not converted a halftime lead into a victory in 14 tries. It was just the third loss for the Hounds in 19 opportunities under Lee after being the first team to put points on the board in the game.
The Greyhounds have continued to beat teams down on the offensive side of the ball, ranking second in the LSC with an average of 455.9 yards per contest, but haven't been able to overcome costly turnovers in each of the last two weeks. The Hounds outgained both West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin, but have fallen to second nationally behind Harding in rushing yards per game with an average of 375.1 yards per contest.
A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY
Saturday afternoon will be a prime oppurtunity for the 2019 seniors to end their career at Greyhound Stadium in positive fashion as the Hounds have lost eight consecutive games to nationally-ranked opponents dating back to 2017. Eastern New Mexico last defeated a ranked opponent on Aug. 31 of 2017 when they took down #18 Southwest Baptist by a 23-21 final inside Greyhound Stadium.
A Hound victory in their 2019 LSC finale would cause an interesting stir in the conference standings as Eastern would finish the season with a record of 4-4. West Texas A&M will hit the road to take on Texas A&M-Kingsville after a critical loss at home last weekend to Texas A&M-Commerce and will finish the season in week 11 against Midwestern State, two teams that would love nothing more than to spoil the Buffs chance at a bowl bid. If the Hounds can manage at least one win in the final two weeks of the season to become bowl eligible and West Texas A&M was to lose their last two contests, Eastern's chance of a bowl game could become a reality with Tarleton State, Angelo State and Texas A&M-Commerce all but locked into a postseason spot barring disaster.
THE CHASE FOR 1,000
The chase for the Hounds to have a pair of 1,000 yard rushers on the season is still in play as we head to the final two weeks of the season. Terry has already well passed the 1,000 yard mark while Strand is closing in with 805 yards on the year.
Strand will need to perform a bit better than his 89.4 yards per game average in the last two games of the season, but a strong performance in each of the last two games of the season will allow this year's team to be the first team in Eastern New Mexico history to produce two 1,000 yard rushers in the same season.
ROVER RICKY
Senior
Ricky Barfield has been crucial to the Hounds defensive backfield all season and has teamed up with Russ to provide steady production for the Hounds. The 2018 All-LSC Honorable Mention selection has totaled double-digit tackles in each of the last two weeks and picked up his lone interception of the season two weeks ago against West Texas A&M.
AERIAL ATTACK
The Greyhounds produced a season-high in multiple passing categories last week on their way to a season-high 190 yards through the air. Strand used a season-high 12 completions to help match his career total in passing touchdowns and also completed a season-long 73 yard pass to Manyweather for a score.
Junior Zachery Field had a season-high six receptions in the game while Manyweather become the first Hound to record multiple touchdown receptions in a game this year.
