Emili Captures Offensive Player of the Week Honors

PORTALES, N.M. – Senior Chukuka Emili has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week after averaging a double-double in the Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team's victories over UT-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico this past weekend.

Emili shot just over 68 percent (17-of-25) in the two wins over the weekend, totaling 16 points in the Hound's 83-66 victory over UT-Permian Basin and 25 points in a 98-80 win over Western New Mexico. The New City, N.Y. native also recorded 13 rebounds in each game to record his fifth and sixth double-double of the season.

Emili was particularly effective in Saturday afternoon's win against Western New Mexico, scoring 25 points, recording 13 rebounds and totaling a season-high six blocked shots. His outstanding weekend raised his season scoring average to 11.9 points per game and his season rebounding average to 8.1 boards per game.

Eastern New Mexico currently sits fifth in the LSC regular season standings with a record of 7-6 in conference play and Emili has continually proven to be a difference maker for the Hounds when playing at a high level. He will enter this weekend's games ranked third in the LSC in rebounding with an average of 8.1 boards per game and first in the league with 44 total blocked shots for the year.

Emili and the Hounds will ride a three game winning streak into this weekend's games at home against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday night and Angelo State on Saturday night.
