KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior forward
Jose Murillo was announced as a member of the south central all-district team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). He was among five players to be named to the first team.
Murillo is one of four players from the Lone Star Conference as part of the first team. The first team includes Xavion Brown (DBU), Cam Lowe (BHSU), Amondo Miller Jr. (LCU), Blake Nielsen (SEU), and Murillo.
Earning second team honors were Ty Allred (CMU), Jaeton Hackley (BHSU), Andre Harris (WNMU), Aidan McDowell (WCU), and Antonio Pusateri (LCU).
The Chihuahua, Mexico native started 31 games for Eastern New Mexico and averaged 32.6 minutes per contest. He led the conference with a 65.1% mark from the floor and had an LSC-best and single season school record 61 blocks.
He helped Eastern New Mexico qualifying for the NCAA DII tournament for the fourth time in program history and advance to the conference tournament title game for the third time ever. He averaged 16.2 points per game and grabbed 8.2 rebounds per contest.
"It was a great season," said Murillo when reflecting on his senior campaign. "One way to sum it up is with advice from 'Dragon Ball' where Goku focuses on pushing yourself and working hard."
Murillo leaves ENMU as the school record holder for games played (121), games started (116), rebounds (725), blocks (186), and minutes played (3085).
