Hounds Continue to Receive Votes in National Polls

WACO, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico football team remained in the receiving votes category of the latest National AFCA Coaches Poll.

After receiving a single vote last week, Eastern New Mexico received five votes in the national poll heading into the third week of action on the season. The Greyhounds picked up a huge Super Region Four win on the road last week at Colorado Mesa in overtime by a final score of 44-37.

The Hounds join arch-rival West Texas A&M as the only two Lone Star Conference schools in the receiving votes category while Tarleton State (no. 4), Texas A&M-Commerce (no. 12) and Midwestern State (no. 16) all remained within the top 25. The Greyhounds currently rank first in all of Division II football with an average of 453.0 rushing yards per game and bolster the nation's ninth ranked unit in total offense with an average of 532.0 yards per game.

Eastern New Mexico will have a prime opportunity to jump into the top 25 with their LSC opener schedule for this Saturday at #12 Texas A&M-Commerce. Each of the first two opponents for the Hounds in Missouri S&T and Colorado Mesa were receiving votes in the national polls, but Texas A&M-Commerce will serve as the first ranked opponent the Hounds have faced in 2019.
