PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico baseball team heads to the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith for a three-game series this weekend. The Greyhounds and Lions face off in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 19, followed by a single game at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.Â
SCOUTING THE LIONS
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-10 and a 4-8 Lone Star Conference mark. Last week, the Lions lost a three-game series to West Texas A&M by scores of 3-1, 11-10, and 16-14.
Hunter Church leads the team in batting average (.417) and doubles (4). Dylan Hurt has a team-high 15 hits and 11 RBI. Pacing the squad in home runs is Sunny Brooks with four.
On the mound, Nico Sharp has a 4-0 record to go with 14 strikeouts and a 2.53 ERA in 21.1 innings. Lukas Petross has contributed six strikeouts and a 1.98 ERA in 13.2 innings of work.
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern New Mexico enters the weekend with a 5-10 overall record and 10-4 LSC record. Last weekend the Hounds took on then No. 17 UT Tyler. ENMU fell in the first two games by scores of 12-0 and 6-1, before picking up a thrilling 10-9 victory in extra innings during the final game in the series.
In that win,
Trevor Moses paced the team offensively as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.
Cole Luedeking finished with a double and two RBI, while
Camden Matthews and
Jude Perea each had two hits. On the mound,
Damian Acosta pitched the final four innings to earn the win.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Luedeking leads all players in batting average (3.95) and hits (15).
Matthew Kory and Luedeking both have a team-high four doubles on the season.
Andres Quintana paces the squad in RBI with nine.
On the hill,
Cooper Hamilton has proven effective with a 1.88 ERA and 1-1 record. He has a team-leading 16 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.
