PORTALES, N.M - The Eastern New Mexico baseball team travels to the University of Texas Permian Basin for a four game series this weekend. Action kicks off on Friday with a 1:30 p.m. game followed by a 12 p.m. contest on Saturday. Both of those conference contests will be played at Roden Field in Odessa, Texas. On Sunday, the two teams will face off in a nine inning conference matchup starting at 12 p.m. and then a seven inning non-conference contest at 3 p.m. at Momentum Bank Ballpark in Midland, Texas.Â
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
The University of Texas Permian Basin enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-5. The Falcons dropped three games to West Texas A&M last weekend by scores of 13-6, 14-8, and 9-1.
The Falcons are led offensively by Garret Thornton, Jay DeSoto, and Collin Fabio. Thornton paces the team in batting average (.400) and hits (10) and has also recorded five RBI. DeSoto has seven hits, eight RBI, a triple and a home run to go with a .333 batting average. So far this season Fabio has nine hits, seven RBI, three doubles, two home runs and a batting average of .321.
On the mound for UTPB, Trey Penny has the lone win of the season. Trever Berg and Jonathan Rice have logged the most pitching time for the Falcons with 11.0 and 9.1 innings respectively.
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern New Mexico enters the weekend with a 1-7 record after picking up the first win of the season over Cameron on Saturday. The Greyhounds dropped the two other contests of the weekend.
Daniel Hunt leads the Hounds in batting average (.333) and also has eight hits, a double, and an RBI.
Nicholas Tamez has been a steady hitter for ENMU with a .308 batting average, eight hits, a home run, and two RBI.
Trevor Moses leads the team in RBI with six.
Hamilton Cooper has seen success on the mound for the Hounds with an ERA of 1.04 and seven strikeouts in 8.2 innings. Leading the way in strikeouts is

Damian Acosta picked up the lone win for ENMU against Cameron.
FIRST WIN CAPTURED
The Greyhounds picked up the first win of the season on Saturday in a 6-5 decision over Cameron. ENMU's victory was the first at Cameron's home field since the 2017 season.
