PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico baseball team heads to Lubbock Christian for a three-game series this weekend. The Greyhounds and Chaps meet at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 9, followed by a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday.Â

SCOUTING THE CHAPS
Lubbock Christian enters the weekend with an overall record of 8-16 and 7-14 Lone Star Conference record. Last weekend, the Chaps dropped three games to West Texas A&M by scores of 12-11, 9-6, and 8-3.
Eduardo Acosta lead the team in hits with 33 to go with 20 RBI, a .314 batting average, and five home runs. Luis Navarro has a team-high 21 RBI along with a .356 batting average, 32 hits, and five home runs. Colin Gordon leads the way in doubles with 10.
On the mound, Owen Woodward has a team-low ERA of 1.38 in 19.2 innings. Shandon Herrera paces the team in wins with three, while Cade Acrey has two. Armando Valle has a team-high 40 strikeouts.
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern New Mexico enters the weekend with a 6-18 overall record and 5-18 LSC record. Last weekend, the Greyhounds went 2-1 at St. Mary's.
Rio Granger and
Andres Quintana each had a home run in the first game of the series.
In the last game of the weekend, the Hounds picked up a 9-5 victory. In the win, Granger was 3-for-5 at the plate and
Trevor Moses was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Cole Luedeking and Granger lead all players in batting average (.333). Luedeking also paces the team in hits with 24.
Nicholas Tamez has also been producing well offensively with 22 hits and 14 RBI.
Braeton Matthews is a perfect 6-6 on stolen bases so far this season, while
Matthew Kory is 4-4.
Josh Lewis and
Dalton Thatcher have seen the most time on the mound for the Hounds with 31.0 and 27.1 innings, respectively. Lewis also leads all Eastern pitchers in strikeouts with 28.
Damian Acosta leads the way in wins with a 3-1 record.
