RICHARDSON, Texas –
Errol White is the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week after aiding men's basketball to a pair of conference wins last week.
The sophomore forward from Queens, N.Y. played a major role in limiting No. 19 UT Tyler to 45 points Thursday and posted his fourth double-double of the season in a 73-63 victory over DBU Saturday afternoon.
"Individual awards are usually the result of great team efforts," said men's basketball head coach
Brent Owen. "Our team defended and rebounded at an incredible level last week and that allowed Errol's individual performance to shine."
Over the two victories, White averaged 8.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals. He helped ENMU force opponents to just 54.0 points per game on .293 shooting from the floor.
He leads the LSC in rebounds per game and is second in steals per game and double-doubles.
"Errol is a defensive nightmare for opponents as he can defend every position on the floor at a high level," said Owen. "He is also leading the conference in rebound which is incredibly difficult to do in a league full of great athletes. He brings energy every day and this is a result of his energy and effort and the overall effort of our team."
