PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico baseball is back on the road this week, with a trip to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for a four-game series against Oklahoma Christian University. The Lone Star Conference series will start on Friday, Mar. 25, with a 4 pm first pitch for the nine-inning game. The next day, Saturday, Mar. 26, the Hounds will play a seven-inning doubleheader with first pitch slated for 12 pm. The series finale will be a nine-inning contest on Sunday, Mar. 27, with a 12 pm start time.
LAST TIME OUTÂ
• In its last series, the Hounds earned a 2-2 split with UAFS. The Hounds took game the first two games of the series, 10-0 (8 Inn.) and 15-6. The Lions stole the final two games by a score of 5-3 and 13-4 over the Hounds.
• In game one,
Noah De La Riva pitched a complete game shutout, recoding six strikeouts in the process.
Spencer Roach lead the Hounds bats going 3-3 with 5 RBIs.
• The Hounds tied a season high 15 runs during its second win of the weekend.
Nick Schifftner finished 4-4 with four RBIs (a triple short of the cycle) and
Cooper Hamilton went 2-3 with four RBIs and a homerun.
SCOUTING THE EAGLESÂ
• Oklahoma Christian come off a 1-3 series defeat against #4 West Texas A&M. The Eagles stole game one, 9-8 (10 Inn.), but faltered in the final three games. On the season OC have a 8-20 record, with the same standing in conference play.
• This season, the Eagles have a .261 batting average scoring 131 runs from 225 hits. Additionally, OC have posted 125 RBI and posses a .338 on base percentage. On the mound, the Eagles have a 6.07 ERA with 179 punchouts this season.
• Tanner White leads the team in nearly every hitting category, with a .333 batting average, 31 hits, 23 RBIs, 7 HRs, and a .645 slugging percentage. Chance Westervelt also has a batting average over .300 at .313 on the season.
• On the bump, Will Rodman has made seven starts with an ERA of 4.54 and a record of 2-4. Matthew Shira has a record of 2-1 in 17.0 innings pitched with a 3.18 ERA and one save this season.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDSÂ
• The Greyhounds have been on a roll in its last three series, with just four losses in its last 12 games. Overall, Eastern has a 10-14 standing, and a 9-13 record in conference play. Eastern as a team have a .267 batting average and have scored 141 runs. ENMU pitching is conceding 7.96 earned runs with 168 strikeouts.
• Roach, Hamilton, Schifftner, and
Camden Matthews each have a battign average over .300, with Roach paving the way at .388. Roach is the team's leader in hits (31) and homeruns (3).
