ENMU Baseball Unveils 2023 Season Schedule

The season will consist of six home series and seven on the road, totaling a 50-game season with 48 conference contests.

PORTALES, N.M. – With first pitch just a month away, head baseball coach Riley Price has announced the 2023 Eastern New Mexico baseball schedule. The season will consist of six home series and seven on the road, totaling a 50-game season with 48 conference contests. The Lone Star Conference (LSC) four-game series format consists of single games on Friday and Sunday, and a doubleheader on Saturday.

"We are really looking forward to building on a record setting spring last season as we ended up breaking several individual/program records, defeating two top 25 nationally ranked teams, and we won the most amount of single-season conference games in school history," said Price . "Post season play is the big goal for us this year as we finished 4 games shy last season. It has been a great fall semester as we look to have more depth on both sides of the ball this spring and we've made some substantial gains in the weight-room as well," said Price.

The Greyhounds begin the season on the road as they travel to reigning Lone Star Conference and South-Central Regional Champions Angelo State University Feb. 3-5. Eastern come back to Portales for its home openers on Feb. 10-12 with Texas A&M International University facing the Greyhounds.

Eastern close the month of February with a road trip to Kingsville, Texas to take on the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville University, Feb. 17-19., then ENMU will entertain St. Edward's University during the final week of February (Feb 24-26).

To begin the month of March, the Greyhounds will head to Canyon, Texas to face West Texas A&M University, Mar. 3-5. Following the series with West Texas A&M, the Greyhounds will step outside of conference play to face in-state rival New Mexico Highlands University. ENMU and NMHU will meet for the first time since 2015, with the two teams meeting 91 times in the series history.

March 17th marks the return to Greyhounds Baseball Field after 18 days on the road. Cameron University will play the Greyhounds Mar. 17-19, with traveling to the University of Texas Permian Basin, Mar. 24-26.

In April, Greyhound Baseball will have three homes series and two away series. The University of Tyler Texas come to Portales from Mar. 31-Apr. 2, Oklahoma Christian travels to ENMU, Apr. 14-16, and Lubbock Christian University closes the home schedule and regular season, Apr. 28-30.

The final road contests of the season will set the Hounds against University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (Apr. 6-8) and St. Mary's University (Apr. 21-23).

"We have a big group of upper classman this year leading the way, as well as some very talented freshman who I could really see making an immediate impact year one for us," said Price. "Our roster is pretty diverse with players from 9 different states (14 from NM) and 3 different countries. We return 30 players with 16 newcomers for this season," said Price. "If these young men continue getting tougher, increase their consistency in all facets, and keep that chip on their shoulder throughout this spring- this group can achieve some special things,".
