Greg Johnson Named LSC Offensive Player of the Week

Junior guard earns conference honors after scoring 22.0 points per game over week

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference named junior guard Greg Johnson as the league's offensive player of the week Tuesday morning.

The Little Rock, Arkansas native made a difference in both of ENMU's victories over UTPB and Angelo State.

Against the Falcons, Johnson scored 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. He hit 5-of-6 attempts from behind the arc. In the win, he added two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

After the game, he said that he was proud of the overall team performance and happy with how the program's efforts in practice and the weight room were beginning to pay off.

On Sunday, he continued a strong week offensively with 20 points in a physical win over the Rams.

"Greg is a big physical guard who is really tough and plays hard all the time," said head coach Brent Owen. "He has put a ton of work in the gym and that has allowed him to become a really good shooter. All of that work really paid off this week."

Through the two games he averaged 22.0 points per game while connecting on 60% from the floor, 58.3% from behind the arc, and 92.9% from the free-throw line.

He is the second Greyhound to receive weekly honors from the LSC this season.

ENMU is 9-3 (4-2 LSC) and heads to Oklahoma for a Thursday night battle with Cameron. A win would mark five-straight in conference play.
