CANADIAN, Texas – Eastern New Mexico women's rodeo took fourth at the Frank Phillips College rodeo this weekend. Shacie Marr's 90 team points sealed the total for ENMU.

"She works hard," said head coach Albert Flinn when asked about the senior from Tularosa, New Mexico. "As long as she keeps getting some points. It may add up and give her a chance to get to the college finals."

Marr held the second quickest time in the long round to advance to Saturday night's premiere event. She earned fifth in the short round to clinch fifth overall and give ENMU 90 points for a fourth place finish overall.

One other Hound made the Saturday performance. Tabby Tomlinson's eighth place finish in barrel racing earned her a bid to compete a second time. The North Carolina native finished sixth overall in the short round and seventh when both scores were added. This marked the first short-go for Tomlinson in her Greyhound career.

"If these girls keep working at it, we will win one of these rodeos," commented Flinn when asked about the competition.

ENMU's Jordyn Everson was among three cowgirls who were the first three to be left out of the marquee event in goat tying. Her 7.9s run showed just how tough it is to make the short-go in the southwest region.

Everson also came 0.2s shy of a bid to compete Saturday night in breakaway roping. She will have one more opportunity to compete this fall.

Blase Steffen held one of the strongest finishes for the men's squad in the rodeo hosted by Frank Phillips College. His 9.4s run came 0.2s shy of a placement into the tiedown roping finals.

The Greyhounds will have two weeks to prepare for a competition hosted by Texas Tech.
