GREENWOOD, Ind. – Camden Matthews of Eastern New Mexico Baseball has been acknowledged with Academic All-District® Honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), on Tuesday morning. This is the first time Matthews has earned this honor.
Matthews recently graduated at the ENMU 2023 Spring Commencement ceremony, holding a 3.53 GPA and earning a degree in Biology. The senior played 49 of the Greyhounds 51 games this past season, starting in each game they played in. ENMU's lead-off hitter held a team high for hits (65), runs scored (50), and triples (6). The Greyhound's center-fielder produced a .337 batting average along with 31 RBIs, and nine stolen bases.
In order to be considered for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form.
Mathews will now move on to the ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration. First- and second‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced on June 7
th.
