PORTALES, N.M. – During the 2022-23 school year, Eastern New Mexico student-athletes volunteered more than 3000 hours for community service. The football program finished with the most hours (1,080) and the softball program finished with the most hours per student-athlete (718.50).
The goal for the year was 3000 and the department surpassed the mark finishing with 3057 hours.
"I am proud of all of our student-athletes," said Assistant Athletic Director
Elizabeth Acosta on the achievement. "We are continually looking for opportunities to help our community and our student-athletes truly helped make a difference this year."
Five other teams finished with more than 100 hours served. Those include men's soccer (270), volleyball (269), men's basketball (220), baseball (198.50), and women's basketball (100).
