Mindi Hulme joins ENMU Athletics as assistant AD for business affairs

Hulme comes to eastern new mexico with a strong educational foundation and experience

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico has hired Mindi Hulme as the athletics department's assistant athletic director for business affairs.

Hulme most recently worked as the coordinator for Mansfield ISD's Student-to-Student Mentoring Program, where she developed processes, designed trainings, and recruited and vetted mentors to match with mentees as a behavior intervention. She led training across all mentor types, including one on one, small group, classroom, and team mentoring, while communicating regularly with stakeholders. She cultivated the program from its infancy into a thriving initiative.

"College sports have been a thread throughout my life.  I was born into collegiate sports when my dad, Lane Wade, played football at Texas Tech," said Mindi Hulme. "Then, my daughter started working in college athletics when she was in college and continued after she graduated.  We loved visiting her and being immersed in the university atmospheres at the different places where she worked.  Recently, my husband enthusiastically accepted the Associate Head Football Coach/ Defensive Coordinator position to have the opportunity to work alongside his former high school coach and long-time mentor Art Briles."

From 2016-2021, she served as the District Program Coordinator for Panther Kids at Midway ISD, handling all personnel actions, budget management, and stakeholder communications. She also coordinated community service opportunities and developed district standards, procedures, and policies.

"When I saw the posting to serve in Business Affairs with ENMU Athletics, I quickly applied," added Mindi.

Hulme brings a strong educational foundation to the role, holding a Master's in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Houston and a bachelor's in public relations with a minor in Spanish from Texas Tech University. Her academic background, combined with four years of business experience and classroom teaching across nine subjects, gives her a well-rounded perspective that spans education, communication, and operations.

Throughout her career, Hulme has demonstrated a willingness to take on new challenges and build programs from the ground up. Whether cultivating Mansfield ISD's mentoring program into a thriving initiative or overseeing district-level budgets and personnel at Midway ISD, she has consistently required little direction while welcoming productive feedback.

"I am thrilled to be part of ENMU to serve the university and athletics.  We are enjoying being part of the Portales and ENMU communities," commented Hulme.

Her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, prioritize effectively, and connect people to the right resources positions her well to support ENMU Athletics' business operations and strategic goals.
