RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference released the 2024-25 men's basketball preseason poll today. Eastern New Mexico University was selected seventh among the group of sixteen teams. Poll voters include coaches, sports information directors, and media representatives. It is the highest preseason pick for the Hounds since 2018 when the team was also selected to finish seventh.
"It is great to have preseason rankings so that we can all generate excitement about the coming season," said head coach Daven Võ on the poll release. "Regardless of where we were picked, our guys are fired up about playing in front of our fans and playing our tough and exciting brand of basketball."
ENMU is coming off a 22-10 (15-7 LSC) season that included the team's second LSC men's basketball tournament title and their third appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Greyhounds are led by first year head coach Daven Võ. He was an assistant coach for the program for two seasons before joining the staff at the University of Colorado, Colorado Spring in 2023-24.
The Greyhounds bring back three student-athletes from the 2023-24 squad. They include starters
Mario Whitley and
Jose Murillo and redshirt freshman
Alex Alfaro. Whitley was recognized as an LSC preseason player to watch.
