RICHARDSON, Texas — Following a recording breaking individual and team performance,
Luciano Terilli has been named Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Terilli is the first Greyhound to win a weekly award this season, and the third hitter to receive the accolade in the
Riley Price era.
Jonatan Clough was the last Greyhound to win the honor (4/18/23), and he went on to win National Collegiate Baseball Writer Association (NCBWA) National & South-Central Region Hitter of the Week.
The Dallas, Texas native was tough out all weekend during a four-game series with UAFS. Playing three different positions over the weekend (left-field, starting pitcher, and designated hitter), the junior scored 10 times with a .643 batting average, .761 on-base percentage, with a pair of home runs, six walks, and 10 RBIs. After drawing four walks and finishing 1-1 on Saturday night, Terilli drove in nine runs (school record) with five hits (including two 3-run home runs) and scoring five times (school record) during the team's 28-24 victory.
Eastern next play a four-game series this weekend on the road against Oklahoma Christian University. The series begins on Friday, Apr. 12, is scheduled for a single game beginning at 4 p.m. (MST), then the teams play a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 13, starting at 1 p.m. (MST), and the series finale will be on Sunday, Apr. 14, with first pitch at 12 p.m. (MST).
