PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Baseball begins the 2025 season on the road during a Lone Star Conference series against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The series starts on Friday, Jan. 31, playing a single nine-inning game beginning at 2 p.m. (MST). The first weekend continues with a seven-inning doubleheader on Saturday, February 1, starting at 1 p.m. (MST) and 4 p.m. (MST). The first series of the season concludes on Sunday, February 2, with first pitch slated for 12 p.m. (MST).

SERIES INSIGHT
- Eastern and Texas A&M-Kingsville have a long history as LSC opponents, playing each other 137 times prior. Overall, the Javelinas hold a 101-36 edge in the all-time series.
- In last season's four-game series, Eastern won the opening game 13-1, but the Javelinas rattled off three straight wins to take the series 3-1. It was the Javelinas first road series win over the Greyhounds since 2019.
- During the last series in Kingsville, Texas (in 2023), the Javelinas captured a 3-1 series win over the Hounds, winning the opening two games, and the series finale.
- Eastern's last series victory over the Javelinas came in 2004, taking the final two games of a three-game home series (4/23-24/04). The Greyhounds have never won a three-game or four-game series on the road against the Javelinas.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- Eastern New Mexico (21-29, 19-29 LSC in 2024) brings back 24 members of the 2024 squad, including six players starting over 47 games each. On the mound, Eastern retained half of its starting rotation that pitched the final four-game series of the season. In total, the Greyhounds squad is made up of 21 pitchers, 18 field players, and one combo pitcher/field player.
- Luciano Terilli returns for ENMU after garnering 2nd team All-LSC honors, leading the Greyhounds in batting average (.363) and on base percentage (.460). Additionally, Terilli tossed 16.0 innings on the hill, posting 15 K's and three saves in a primary role out of the bullpen. Other key figures back in the lineup include Tucker Gideon, batted .346 in 2024 while earning all-defensive honors in center field from the LSC and ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association). The teams leader in RBIs (Willie Ponce, 48) and home runs (Daniel Pruitt, 7) are back for 2025, while 2024 LSC All-Defense selections (Demetrio Archuleta, 2B, and Beau Preston, 1B) return to the team.
- For the Eastern pitching staff, Adrian Rubio, Josaiah Estrella, and Julian Lopez combined for 24 starts in 2024, while relief pitchers Zach Raichel (34.1 IP) and Griffin Almond (22.1 IP) also comeback to the Greyhounds.
SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
- Texas A&M-Kingsville (23-27, 21-27 LSC in 2024) finished 10th during the 2024 campaign in the LSC. The Javelinas lost a lot of key players from last season, including eight bats in the lineup that started over 35 games.
- Vincent Sanchez was recognized as an LSC Player to Watch, batting .307 last season with 30 hits and 14 RBI. Sanchez is just one of three Javelinas that had a plate appearance last season to return to the team.
- On the mound, Texas A&M-Kingsville brought back a half dozen arms that pitched last season, including Jake Thielen. Thielen started 12 games last season totaling 37.2 innings with an 8.12 ERA. Brian Buchanan led the team in appearances (22) in 2024 and is back on the hill for TAMUK. Graduate Student Ulises Quiroga was named TAMUK's preseason pitcher to watch, transferring from Division I UTSA with a 4.09 ERA and 8-2 record in 14 starts during 2024.
