PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico women's cross country had one of their best outings of the 2025 season as they finished in 18th place at the DBU Old Glory Gallop in a 5k race.
"It was nice to see how we match up against others teams we have not competed against," said assistant coach Keyanah Browning. "This was one of out better meets where we worked together as a team to close gaps."
The Greyhounds needed every finisher in the race that showcased 51 programs and 408 runners. Freshman Chama El-Hadiri paced the team with an impressive 26th place nod. She was also the 18th best finisher from a DII program as she crossed the line in 18:22.97.
ENMU's second finisher of the morning was
Madison Manuelito who ran a personal best 20:16.13.
Elizabeth Lujan-Towles was not far behind with a 20:25.05 time. First year Greyhound Joella Matilda also earned a personal best with a 20:30.56 time. Rounding out the five runners for Eastern was
Maya Garcia Schafer at 21:07.80.
Also finishing for Eastern was
Alina Caballero (22:12.94) and
Valentina Rocabado Salazar (26:16.83).
Eastern New Mexico will have two weeks to prepare for the 2025 Lone Star Conference cross country championship. It will be held October 25th at the same course as the DBU Old Glory Gallop.
