PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico women's cross country will compete at the 2025 NCAA DII south central regional championship meet hosted by Colorado State University – Pueblo at the Walking Stick Golf Course. Before the Greyhounds get to action, please take a look at the Three Mile Preview:
Mile One – Lone Star Recap: Eastern New Mexico last competed at the 2025 Lone Star Conference cross country championships in Fort Worth, Texas. ENMU men finished in 13th at the meet and the women also took 13th. The best finisher for the Greyhound men was
Jackson Gable who finished the 8k race in 28:29.23.
Chama El Hadiri was the top runner for Eastern in the 6k with a22:22.18 outing.
Mile Two – Honorable Achievements: Two Greyhounds have received significant accolades from the Lone Star Conference.
Chama El Hadiri was the top finishing freshman at the conference championships, which earned the Morocco native the honor of Lone Star Conference freshman of the year – a first for Eastern New Mexico women's cross country. Also, this week
Brian Norton was named a member of the all-academic team. The LSC only chooses five individuals from the member institutions to be represented on the list. Norton is carrying a 4.0 grade point average while earning progress towards a degree in business administration.
Mile Three – Meet Outlook: Saturday's race will begin at 11 a.m. MT and will feature the top programs from the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). ENMU will be one of 12 programs in the LSC who will attend the meet. Representing the RMAC will be 14 teams. The 6k course in Pueblo will feature three loops on the back nine of the Walking Stick Golf Course. Runners will begin in a tight and narrow straight-away before heading towards a downhill portion of the fairway and a straight path alongside holes 16 and 17. The challenging aspect of the meet will be the vast number of participants and the tight spaces near the beginning of the loops and the final parts of the race.
