Senior forward earns prestigious honor after 2-0 weekend at CSU Pueblo's Thanksgiving Classic

PORTALES, N.M. – Jose Murillo is the NABC/D2CIDA national player of the week after a fantastic week of play at the CSU Pueblo Thanksgiving Classic.

"This is a great honor for Jose," said head coach Daven Võ when told about this recognition. "He works so hard and means so much to this program."

Murillo is the only player in the Lone Star Conference to be averaging a double double this season as he is posting 17.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. The Chihuahua, Mexico native now has three double doubles in his senior campaign, which ties his total from the 2024-25 season.

In the team's victory over MSU Denver, he posted 15 points and 15 rebounds over 29 minutes of action. Murillo earned a career best four steals in the win and added two blocks.

He also helped the Greyhounds earn a win over previously unbeaten CSU Pueblo. In that match up, he scored a season high 21 points and added 15 rebounds. Murillo swatted four shot attempts in the game.

The fourth year player is the first Greyhound to earn national player of the week since Jahcoree Ealy earned the accolade in December 2023.

Eastern New Mexico and Jose Murillo will play next at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena on Thursday, December 4 as they host Cameron at 7:30 p.m. to begin Lone Star Conference action.
