Men's basketball under consideration in first NCAA II regional poll

Eastern New Mexico in initial NCAA DII regional poll released Wednesday afternoon

INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern New Mexico men's basketball is among ten teams in the South Central region "under consideration" in the first regional rankings announced by the NCAA.

"We are glad to be in consideration because it helps our chances to get into the national tournament," said head coach Daven Võ on the announcement. "It says a lot about where this program is now to where it was when I first stepped foot on campus."

The ten teams in alphabetical order include Colo. School of Mines, DBU, Eastern New Mexico, Fort Lewis, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, MSU Denver, Regis (CO), St. Mary's (TX), and West Texas A&M.

The Greyhounds are 14-8 in in-region games this season. The initial rankings do not rank teams with a seed. Next week, the regional committee will announce the programs based on seed.

This is the second year in-a-row where ENMU has been listed in the initial "under consideration."

"We are not going to get ahead of ourselves," said Võ. "We have three really good teams to play, and a lot can happened between now and March. We are focused on playing our best basketball."

Eastern New Mexico has three more games in the regular season remaining. Two of those opponents (St. Mary's and West Texas A&M) are also in the initial rankings.
