PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Baseball travel to Alpine, Texas to take on Sul Ross State in an LSC four-game series. The four-game series starts on Friday, March 21, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. (MST). The next day, both teams play a doubleheader scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. (MST). The series finale is set for Sunday, March 23, starting at 12 p.m. (MST).

SERIES INSIGHT
- The Greyhounds and Lobos played 23 times prior to the weekend series but will face each other as conference foes for the first time. All-time, ENMU has a 17-6 record against the Lobos.
- ENMU last played in Alpine in 2007, coming away with a four-game sweep over the Lobos. Eastern has won the last ten games against the Lobos, while holding a 16-4 road record against Sul Ross State.
- Sul Ross State joined the Lone Star Conference for the 2024-25 season and are in the reclassification period from DIII to DII.
- Both teams first played each other in 1994, as the two teams split a four-game series. Sul Ross State swept the opening double-header (10-7 and 7-6), but the Greyhounds returned the next day, winning 10-6 and 7-4.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- The Greyhounds (14-12, 12-12 LSC) come into the weekend after a series split with #4 UT Tyler. ENMU has had their success in the doubleheader games this season, going 9-3 during the doubleheaders. Eastern's bats combined for 41 hits over the four-game series with the Patriots, marking the the first wins against against a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
- Offensively, the Greyhounds are batting at .304 on the season, scoring 185 runs on 233 hits, including 87 extra base hits. Eastern have drawn 130 walks, posting 162 RBIs, while stealing 52 bases. ENMU's pitching staff has a 6.41 ERA, recording 152 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .323.
- Despite shifting positions in the field, Luciano Terilli didn't miss a beat in the batter's box, leading the Greyhounds in runs scored (32), hits (36), walks (25), doubles (10), and home runs (5) this season. Willie Ponce leads the team with a .422 batting average, while Kyle Kiernan posted a pair of home runs last weekend from the leadoff spot. Jalen Freeman has a team high of 24 RBIs.

Adrian Rubio has 26 strikeouts over 24 relief innings, holding a 2-1 record with a pair of saves.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS
- Sul Ross looks to snap a 15-game losing streak, holding a 2-26 record on the season, with all 28 games being conference games. Recently, the Lobos lost a four-game road series with West Texas A&M.
- The Lobos have a .236 batting average, scoring 122 runs. SRSU has provided 187 hits, finding 111 RBIs, with 33 doubles, five triples, and 20 home runs. Sul Ross State has a LSC high 15.11 ERA. SRSU has 103 strikeouts this season, with opposing hitters batting .385 this season.
- Alfonso Lopez paces the Lobos with a .390 batting average, but Aaron Morales leads the team in both hits (30) and runs scored (18). Four different Lobos have three home runs this season, while Primo Vasquez leads the program with 19 RBIs and seven doubles.
- Ryan Sandoval leads all eligible pitchers with a 14.40 ERA, with all seven appearances being a start. Jacob Salinas has started six games this season, while Christian Loveless has a team high 19 strikeouts in four starts. Gage Cobb is the other likely starter, with Cobb having four starts in five appearances.
